Soap
Your Skin Called. It Wants the Good Stuff.
Go ahead, treat yourself to a better bar. Our soaps are packed with rich plant oils, hydrating butters, a variety of liquids (such as wine, beer, aloe, coconut milk…) and gentle ingredients that clean your skin without drying it out. Consider it a simple, daily upgrade for your cleansing routine that actually leaves your skin feeling great.
Simplí soaps are made in two different ways: (1) in the cold process method—which means the soap batter is not heated or cooked via an external source, resulting in a smooth, creamy texture and allowing for pretty swirls and patterns—(2) and occasionally via hot process, which means the batter is cooked and any additives, such as additional oils, butters, honey or yogurts, are incorporated after the cook; hot process results in a more rustic and textured appearance. There are no added detergents and the glycerin is kept intact. The bars are cured for at least 4-6 weeks, which ensures moisture has naturally evaporated and all of the fatty acids have fully become soap crystals (sodium hydroxide/lye combined with the fats in oils & butters creates soap crystals during the cure process and there is no lye left in the final product). And with fully cured soap you are left with firm, longer-lasting bars.
Batches are made from scratch and I have personally formulated the recipes. I have researched the variety of oils and butters beneficial to skin; favorites include olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, rice bran oil, castor oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter. My soapmaking usually follows centuries-old methods, using essential oils along with incorporating herb, root and spice infusions and clays. However I occasionally use mica powder for some colorants; these are finely ground minerals—with cosmetic-grade colorants and pigments (Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act-approved as safe). Cosmetic-grade fragrance oils are also incorporated, as some people want a scent with more longevity or request scents that are not found organically/in nature. I only use Phthalate-free fragrances. NO petroleum-based ingredients, NO pre-made bases, NO GMO ingredients and NO testing on animals….well, except for willing family & friends.
Bars average 4 to 5 ounces and are approximately 3.5″ x 2.75″ x 1″. Specialty bars are a little smaller: facial soaps are square in shape and the salt bars are flat on one side and curved on the other side—which fits perfectly in the palm of the hand.
To extend the life span of bars, I recommend a ventilated soap dish/deck so they can dry between use.
WORTH NOTING: There is no such thing as soap without lye (aka sodium hydroxide). Soap is produced via the saponification process of fatty acids (oils) with an alkali (lye). If someone states a soap was made without lye, then it was made with a melt-and-pour base—saponified soap cubes that are melted and other additives like scent, color and botanicals are incorporated—or they have used syndets, which are synthetic detergents used to clean and are made from surfactants. Shampoo bars often use syndets due to the milder pH.

“Since moving to Virginia from Maine my skin had been so dry, so it’s been even more of a challenge to find a solution. The soaps smell so good and don’t leave an itchy residue—important for someone like me with sensitive skin. I’m in love!”
